15 Weird Things About Me

My apologies to Bernard for delaying this for so long. I have been tagged & this is what I need to do...

1. Each player of this game starts off with 15 weird things/ habits/ little known facts about yourself.
2. People who got tagged need need to write a post of their own
15 weird things/ habits/ little known facts as well as state this rule clearly.
3. At the end, you need to choose 10 people to be tagged & listed their names
4. No tag backs!!

Okay, so here it goes

1. acura is actually a brand of car sold in the US. I chose it as my nick cause it sounds exotic & mysterious. Not anymore, I guess.

2. I am terrified of dogs. They scared the daylights out of me.

3. I am a Taekwondo 1st Dan Black Belt holder, so think twice before you mess with me ^~^

4. I hate boy bands. The boy band era during the 90's is pure torture. I am just glad I survived it with my hearings intact.

5. I sleep when I am tired...when I am bored...when I am stressed...when I have got nothing to do...when I have got too much to do...when I am hungry...when I am, erm I guess you get the point.

6. I am only good in 1 sport : FIFA 08

7. I am currently taking German level 3, yet I still couldn't string a proper sentence in German.

8. I DO NOT forward or see the need to respond to chain mails.

9. I will watch any type of sports shown on TV. I even try watching golf in the middle of the night. And I think I have found the cure for insomnia.

10. I am nocturnal. I usually sleeps at 3am & wakes up around 1pm. My dad said it was because I was born in the year of the Tiger & tigers are nocturnal animals. Hmm...my dad always have answers for everything.

11. I was born in the year of the Tiger.

12. I am a 3rd year mechanical engineering student. I took it because the government told me to do so & erm, because I am scared of blood.

13. I was once a fan of pro wrestling, the WWE. I was so obsessed I go to school one day & locked my poor friend in a Figure Four Way till he taps out haha Oh, by the way...Please Don't Try This at Home (but they didn't mentioned anything about schools *wink*)

14. I still don't have a Facebook account.

15. I was kissed by a transvestite once. I happens after a tiger show in Haadyai & I was only 7 or 8 years old then.

Copycat Blogging

Reading Simon's post about the copycat blogger makes me wonder how some people can resort to such things just to gain traffic. I am sure many of us had came across another kind of copycat blogger as well.

The kind that copy & paste an entire news article & pass it off as their own blog entry. Of course, a lot of bloggers post their views about issues highlighted in the media. That's fine...but what I am referring to are those who lift the entire article from an online news portal but are too lazy to offer their own opinion on it. No comments, no original input whatsoever from the blogger.

Basically, we are just reading the news article in HIS / HER blog! If no personal views are offered on that matter, then I do not think there is a difference reading a blog or reading it straight from The Star online or NST online. Isn't this a form of online plagiarism too?

But the thing is many (including myself) of us are attracted to the
sex related interesting blog titles, only to find a cold emotionless news article on the other end, sometimes the same article we read in the morning papers. And those posts are pretty high up in Innit too...really discouraging to other more honest bloggers like....*cough*myself*cough*

Taking Fashion Tips From MCR

I think My Chemical Romance started to gain more mainstream prominence only after the release of their 3rd album back in 2006. Their trademark look is of course the black skeleton jacket they wore in the video for the song 'Welcome To The Black Parade'

And soon enough, everybody wanted to sport the emo look just like them, you know...black hair, pale face, black mascara, all black clothing & a permanently depressed expression.

And lately, even Asian bands are imitating 'inspired' by their fashion styles. Just look at the Indonesia rock band called Dewa 19 below. They are wearing the exact same jacket! I saw this pic in the newspaper when they came for a concert earlier this year. Really tiru bulat-bulat these guys.

I also noticed Taiwanese rock band, Mayday's front man, Ashin wearing the jacket but in a lighter shade & with T-shirt underneath. Well, a little bit of creativity at least.

Yup, he wore one during their recent concert in Kuala Lumpur too.

Heck, even S.H.E is taking fashion tips from them. Instead of looking all dark & gloomy, they modified it for a more cheerful look. Ella is obviously wearing a jacket 'inspired' by MCR. Selina is also wearing something similar if you look closer. But how come Ella ended up looking like a sad circus performer?

Now, who would have thought MCR would set such fashion trends? I wonder which artist will jump on the band-wagon next
(pun intended ; P)

Fish & Win A PSP

If you had been dreaming of owning a PSP all along, here's an easy way to win one. Firstly, click on the Nuffnang ad with this picture or click here

Then, proceed to play the game. The objective is simple, try & get the heaviest total catch in 90 seconds. All you need to do is aim the bait at the fish & once they took it, you yank them out of the water. Repeat till time runs out. Trust me, it's fun ^~^

Once you are done, post your score into the hall of fame. If you are the Top 3 highest scorer of the week, you get a free PSP just like that!

But wait....there's a catch (pun intended : P), you need to be a registered Hong Leong Online user and had to make 2 online bill payments to be eligible. *Dang, just when I thought my 9500g catch would be good enough to win it*

So, quickly register or just enjoy fishing for fun hehe

Don't Buy Compaq Laptop

This should be sound advice for anybody looking to buy a new laptop : just stay the hell away from Compaq!! I owned a Compaq Presario V3000 series laptop that was bought in mid 2006 & ever since then, sending my laptop for servicing had become a part of my life.

What makes the frustration even more unbearable is the fact that Compaq is a well-known brand name & we were made to believe that the product bearing their name should be of good quality. We made the mistake of placing our trust in the company by buying not ONE but TWO (another for my sis) laptops from the official dealership in Low Yat.

Problems are aplenty, all of them hardware failures. Anybody owning a similar model can surely relate to this. My troubles started with the DVD ROM, my laptop couldn't detect it after only a few months of usage. So, they took the DVD ROM away & replace it with a new one. Fair enough.

Then, one day I try to switch on my laptop only to be greeted by a blank screen. Frustrated, I sent my laptop all the way back to Low Yat. Found out later that the AMD processor of my laptop was burnt!! *gasp* I knew AMDs overheat but never knew it burnt so easily too. They gave me a new one since it's still under warranty.

Few weeks later, I found out that my laptop couldn't detect the memory properly. Suppose to be 1GB of RAM but only 512MB was detected. Had to sent it back again & they replace the faulty system board with a new one.

And last week, my sister's laptop couldn't boot, the tech guy suspects some problems with the motherboard. Motherboard failure? Barely 2 years of usage?

And right now, I am posting this from another computer. Reason? My own laptop couldn't detect my home's wireless network. *Grr....* Wonder what's the problem this time around. Nothing will surprise me now for sure.

If all the problems above still didn't manage to persuade you to change your mind, then just go ahead & buy Compaq. I wish you the best of luck.

As for me, I will continue stomping on my laptop to get it back working.

My CNY

I guess it's still not too late to blog about my CNY celebration this year round right?

I went into the holiday worrying about my mid-sem exam and Math assignment (it's true! it's true!). With the exam being held on chor 6, I had to revise in between gambling sessions. But when I went back to UKM, the lecturer told us that the exam had been postponed! Because Pak Lah came and hijacked our exam hall. Grr....Thanks for making my CNY so gloomy,En Zaki.

Nevertheless, CNY still need to be celebrated. Exams or no exams.

On New Year's eve, after the customary reunion dinner, we head down to Petaling Street for prayers as always. We will go to Kwan Tai Miu for prayers without fail every year. Roads leading to KL centre were eerily deserted. Almost like New York city in 'I am Legend', minus the zombies of course.

Temple's entrance. One step beyond & you will be teary eye in no time, due to the smoke.

It's not called Kwan Tai Miu for nothing, just look at the gigantic Kwan Kung knife on the bottom left corner of the pic. This is the knife I said I wanted to borrow (Wei Sung you better beware hehe) Managed to lift it twice & it's darn heavy.

Rows upon rows of joss sticks

My sis taking pics for her assignment with the Simon Yam camera. My dad acted as her bodyguard.

On the 1st day of New Year, we went to watch Stephen Chow's CJ7 at Pavilion. Watching movies during CNY had become some sort of a ritual for us in recent years. It's kinda funny but not in a classic Stephen Chow kind of way. In fact he is serious throughout the movie. No wackiness from him *sigh* But, at least we can be thankful it won't be as bad as another CNY movie, Himalaya Singh * shudders*

Lanterns along Bintang Walk. Pretty Pretty.

We even saw some guys in a break dancing battle just outside BB Plaza. Quite a crowd, eh?

The 2nd day were always the most lucrative as we went to visit my mother's relatives. While I spent chor 3 going to my gf's hometown in Semenyih. Before I knew it, it was back to school again.....

Kena Saman

Last Thursday I received a call from my mum, apparently I was caught speeding and a saman had been delivered to my house. So, my mum called to asked me about it. Obviously, not very pleased with my law-breaking act.

I was certainly surprised & caught off guard by it. Surprised not because I got the saman but surprised because it was delivered so late. I almost thought I got away with it. Dang!

Because that speeding thing happen in December last year!! I was on the way back to UKM using the Cheras-Kajang highway happily cruising on the right lane. Then, when I was approaching some bridge, I saw this policeman crouching with a camera underneath it.

That's when I thought 'Die lah sure kena saman ady!!'. Secretly hoping I am too fast for the camera. But the saman didn't arrived as I wait & wait until......the phone call. Duh!!!

They say I was doing 109km/h on a highway with a limit of 90km/h. What?? You called that speeding??

Some highways have a limit of 110km/h but apparently not this one. So next time out I will be more alert to signboards for the speed limit. Previously, I thought those were just suggestions. And because of that, I was slapped with a RM300 fine!

Losing money before CNY even starts. Great. Now, have to work harder at the mahjong tables to win it back ; )

MCR coming to KL!!

My Chemical Romance, the hottest rock band at the moment is coming to KL for a concert!! Yes, the Black Parade has arrived. Confirmed. As reported by The Star a few days ago.

Surely, this had got something to do with the Merdeka celebration. I mean, the organisers were geniuses. They might not know it yet, but this will become an important milestone in our nation's history, yes, even more significant than sending a space tourist to, well, space.

Ok Ok I know I am exaggerating a bit. But you certainly understand my excitement, no? Erm...what do you mean you have never heard of them?

But wait, if a concert by Gwen Stafani managed to drew so much controversies. Imagine what will happen when a band like MCR comes to town. White face make up, black mascara, songs about dying and death. I am sure our moral guardians will be less than pleased.

But a quick check on the date revealed that it will be held on the 9th December. *insert profanities*. More details here

I am still on vacation during that time *sob*

Hopefully, it would be delayed.....*fingers crossed*

An Epic Victory

Warning : The post below is written in Dota-speak. Please refrain from scrolling if you are allergic to grown men discussing about computer games & prone to eye rolling.

Dota - the best thing since sliced bread

Yesterday night, was my friend's, CK last night in KL before going back to UTM. Therefore, I decided to cook up some impromptu sending off for him. And yes, that usually means we will go and play Dota.

Thus, the 3 of us : me, CK & Kenny went to tbun for some senseless killings.

The 1st game was not worth mentioning. We lost. Again. I think I am starting to get used to that feeling. It's not our fault of course. It's a just something we named : The Curse Of Teoh!

For the 2nd game we randomed :
Magnataur ( me ), Morphling ( Kenny ), Broodmother ( CK ), Spectre & Weaver

The other team got :
Puck, Twin head dragon, Dragon night, Lone druid & Naga

Not too bad right? Me think the same too.

But that was quickly forgotten early into the game. Me & CK was in the same upper lane. Pretty soon, CK was getting rape like an AV star. And I didn't fair any better either. Kenny said that when I manage to get the blink dagger & Battle Fury, we will start owning. Emm..okay

But farming isn't easy when u always got killed. Luckily, Kenny & the weaver managed to get some respectable items. Yet, by the time I had enough money to buy those 2 stuff with my hard earned money, our base look a lot like KLIA.

The upper & middle base were gone. Even the 2 towers guarding the throne were gone. I was losing hope. Fast.

But wait, Kenny & the weaver still insisted we can win. WTF??

Naturally, our opponents started pushing the final lane. With my newly acquired item, I confidently blink into the middle of their heroes, ulti & started whacking. I was killed in no time. My pessimism reached an all time low after that.

But, Kenny & the weaver defended like hell & even managed to kill. Miraculously, our only tower remained intact even after 30 minutes of their pushing. Huh?

At that point I was just playing along. Surely, I do not want to be known as a leaver, right? Then, the turning point came when the weaver gave me another Battle Fury. 2 Battle Furies is like joining skim cepat kaya. Money won't stop flowing.

After I got my heart, we started pushing. Firstly, we destroyed their middle lane. Then their lower lane. When we went up for the final lane, we smelled victory for the 1st time. How ironic.

We won that game against all odds! And in the process, I think we made 5 men quit playing Dota.

After 82 minutes we were spent. I heaved a huge sigh of relief. Then, I started wondering. How the heck did we managed to pulled that off?

I spun around & the answer became obvious.......

Teoh was not around. ^-^
